Homer visited and shoved a jammie doughnut in my router yesterday – I did try to explain that you don’t need to feed the router – so I couldn’t post this post yesterday – the expected day 25th May – due to lack of WiFi so here is a fun post which refers to yesterday’s events! Enjoy …
Yes, the “event” is made up but due to the fact that yesterday it was Abe (Grandpa) Simpson’s birthday and that yesterday was also Geek Pride Day (*waving high flag*) I have named the 25th May Geeks and Grandpa Day! So find out what geek’s are displayed throughout our favourite cartoon series, fun facts about Grandpa and more right after the jump …
So Grandpa’s (Abe’s) birthday was yesterday on the 25th April. Abe has had many wives over the years but he stayed with Mona for 6 years with which he had Homer. Here is a quick family tree to show some of the relations of the Simpson Family
He first appeared in the Simpson’s premiere “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire” and since then he has stayed the old dunceman with hundreds of stories to tell and bore relatives about.
Top 3 Funny Abe Moments:
His old manner and funny stories are a loveable addition to the show and I wish him a very happy birthday!!!
Now onto the geeky side of things! So yesterday was geek pride day and I want to start by stating the definition of a geek by a quote:
The word ‘geek’ today does not mean what it used to mean. A geek isn’t the skinny kid with a pocket protector and acne. There can be computer geeks, video game geeks, car geeks, military geeks, and sports geeks. Being a geek just means that you’re passionate about something.

But back to what I wanted to talk about: the University Geeks!
The University Geek’s are three young and geeky adults who make their debut in the episode “Homer goes to College”.
“Homer goes to collage” is a fun episode where Homer goes to University due to Mr Burns thinking that Homer is not educated enough!
The episode also starred this (look familiar?)
The mischievous bunch have made their cameos in a number of episodes but have yet to make it to Tapped Out 🙁 !
Remember this episode:
“Girls just want to have sums” was a great episode that highlighted the ongoing hint of gender discrimination, prejudice and geek pride! Lisa dressing herself up as a boy to prove that girls can do as much as boys was a great moral to the episode and it showed her true geek side – the classic Lisa!
So today (actually yesterday but let’s postpone it) is a time for you to wave your geek flag high as you should be proud of what you have a vast knowledge of!
So … What are you a geek in? What’s your favourite Abe moment? What Geek characters do you want to see in Tapped Out? Has Homer given you any technical issues lately? Answer below as your comments brighten up our days 🙂
